Position Announcement:  Marketing and Program Director, Community Arts and Recreation Alliance


The Community Arts and recreation Alliance oversees two separate bicycle related businesses.  The Jefferson County ReCyclery (The ReCyclery), started in 2012, is a successful community cycling hub for repairs, refurbishing and selling used bikes, motivating bikers, work apprenticeships, and training young people to bike more safely, especially in school programs. Current programs include Apprenticeship Program, Middle School Bike Education Program, Volunteer Recruitment and Measurement, Bike Community Shop Day, Mountain Bike Club, ReCyclery Education Classes, Earn a Bike Program, Bike Maintenance 101 and Evening Seminars.

The Port Townsend Cycle School was founded in 2018 to offer more training programs for both hobbyists and professionals. To date, we have offered Bicycle Mechanics Level 1 (5 day) and Wheel Building 1 (2 day) courses.  The 2019 schedule includes Bicycle Mechanics Level 2 and Wheel Building 2.

Position Details:

The Marketing and Program Director will work closely with our Executive Director to implement the CARA Board Strategic Plan.  This position will be offered on a contract basis at a rate of $18/hour for 20 - 30 hours/week. The successful applicant will be expected to spend a minimum number of hours at the shop and attend staff meetings, although some of the job responsibilities can be completed off site.  This position is open until filled.
