Foundation 2: Intro to Bike Mechanics 2- Assembling & Basic Bearing Adjustments
Bike assembly and adjustment of bearings
Foundations 2 will build upon topics learned in Foundations 1 and take a deeper dive into overhauling bearings. Each student will assemble a bike using classroom tools, focusing on adjusting and overhauling the headset, hub, and bottom bracket.
Participants should feel comfortable identifying components of a bike, where bearings are located, and what it means to ‘overhaul’ a bearing component. They should also know how to perform a safety check and what to look for before giving a bike the ‘green light’.
