The ReCyclery Kids Bike Program

The goal of The Kids Bike Program is to get more donated kids bikes refurbished, and back under the legs of Jefferson County youth in need. Every year, leading up to the holidays ReCyclery volunteers refurbish between 30 and 60 kids bikes to give away through local non-profits such as The Boiler Room, Olycap, Jefferson Healthcare and Dove House. The Recyclery gives these organisations vouchers, which they give to their clients allowing them to redeem 1 free kids bike during the holiday season.

The rest of the year, anyone can purchase a kids bike for the suggested donation of $50 while supplies last, and the bike will come with a family membership to the Recyclery ($50 value). All money generated by the program goes toward creating more family memberships for those that can’t afford them. Aside from Donations, the program is largely supported by two community partners: Local real estate team and cycling enthusiasts Miller and Ashmore contribute significantly to the costs of replacing parts, and Local Painter Al Raichart has re-painted over 80 frames!
